- No netmask? I don't think that would work. But no matter. Further
- investigation reveals that that both machines are sending out ARP packets.
-
- But no matter. I have installed a packet sniffer on the sun.
-
- What I am seing is some sort of data corruption problem. The Amiga
- responds to arp packets comming from the sun. However, the addresses in
- the Amiga generated packets are wrong. There is usually a bit or two
- flipped in the ethernet address and/or the ip address.
-
- I see some of the same corruption on the Amiga side. When I ping from the
- sun to the Amiga, I get two entries in the Amiga's arp table. One is the
- Sun's real address. The other is the same address with one bit (always
- the same bit) flipped.
-
- I have already tried replaceing the cables. What is on there now is
- pretty pricey stuff. It's 10BASE-T so there isn't any termination
- problems to deal with.
-
- I am thinking that maybe the Sun and the Amiga are using different packet
- formats. Anyone know which each uses by default?
